Getting very frustrated trying to use focus stacking with photoshop......

Hi all,

I recently decided to give forced perspective a try and as such have finally tried focus stacking.

I am a lightroom user and for the firts time launched photoshop in order to stack 2 photos but the results are not pleasant.

I have a car in one photo with a store front  for the background in focus in the rear.

when I blend the two images the result is a focused background but the car in the foreground is see through, only parts of the car are visible.

Any guidance would be much appreciated,

regards

Focus stacking can be tricky!

To put all chances on your side, rigorous technique and
consequent decisions are the solutions. Consider using a
tripod, be aware of the adverse effects of focus breathing
among other things.

Softwares may be powerful tools but they work with the
files you provide them.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

It would require more than two images. Using only two images would require the blending be done manually to be successful in your example.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

Well it turns out my initial problem was totally my fault, finger trouble.

Although I am managing to get PS to succesfuly merge the shots now, I am getting a slight ghosting effect on some parts of the image as you can see.

I have used manual focus so I suspect focus breathing is not the problem although I appreciate the heads up from Nikon Shooter and have read several articles about this issue.

For info, the image of the car is 4 frames stacked together from my Sony A7RII with the 24-105mm lens.
