What's your primary photo editing computer?

Man, I think my computer needs to be tossed out.  What are you using to process your images?  Actually I'm fishing around for actual specs, I want to get something purpose ordered/built this time around.

Thanks for the help!  Merry Christmas!

I'm just a hobbyist, but I use a Asus A15 laptop with a Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. But I hate it (it's powerful enough, but the touchpad is horrendous, which is a problem because it's also my computer for just browsing the internet, etc), so I've just ordered the new Macbook Air with the M1 processor. On paper it's not as good (8GB RAM and 256GB SSD), but it's better in the benchmarks and quite a bit cheaper. And silent without overheating. I'll also get an external SSD to store the photos on. And maybe in the future, I'll get a big monitor to make it a proper editing station (especially for video), but for now, it's just a bit of fun.

It might be worth you checking out the new M1 Mac Minis actually. Traditionally you get more for your money with Windows in terms of power, but it seems these new Apples are quite the bargain. Something I never thought I'd say.

Don't say that too loud, some Mac users may be on
the line — like me for one!

I never owned anything but Macs: from Mac Pros to
MacBooks Pro (17" and still running!) What is power
or resistance without endurance?

I recently got an iMac for PP… SWEET! :P

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I use an old HP desktop I picked up as refurbished for $300 in 2014. It runs out of memory at times if I have PS and LR open and am processing a huge file but that's rare. Most any newer computer is good to go especially if you have enough RAM.

Hi. I have iMac (27-inch, 2020) and according to the reviews (and my thoughts) it is the best computer for video and photo editing overall. 27-inch Retina 5K display, 3.6GHz 10-Core i9, 128GB 2666MHz DDR4 SDRAM, 8TB Solid State Drive, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16GB memory, that's more than enough for me. If you have trouble using such software as photoshop, adobe premiere pro, lightroom and so on and don't have enough money to upgrade your pc then try https://www.fastreel.com/video-maker.html . This program isn't complicated and doesn't require a powerful cpu.

I've got the M1 Macbook Air now. It's fantastic. Not done a huge amount of photo editing on it, since we're in lockdown again, but it's handled everything so far. I also got a 1TB Sandisk Portable Pro SSD.
