need to improve these photos

13 years 5 months ago #4618 by longlegged
I took a bunch of digital photos in a museum yesterday, which did not allow flash photography and a lot of the photos are dark. The camera I was using is not a high end model, so I was limited in what I could do. Can you recommend a photo editing program that would improve my photos? Right now I have Magix Extreme and FotoStone on my computer.

Most photo editors should have at least a "fill" light slider if they don't have an exposure adjustment slider. You will find though that the shots will then have lots of "noise". Correcting the noise will in turn cause you to lose details. Best to invest in a faster lens or use a flash when allowed

You can actually do more with an overexposed image than with an underesposed one. With an underesposed image there just is not enough data to work with. Sorry! As Scott said, use a flash and/or a tripod and a slow shutter speed when shooting in low light. And, with a more advanced camera, be sure to thoroghly understand "aperature priority," "shutter priority," and the use of "histograms" - keys to correct exposure.

I hope this helps,
