Would you do weddings if you were me, lol?

IMO, I think every photographer should have the experience of shooting a wedding. I personally have not yet, but when the time comes when someone wants to me to photograph their wedding, I will.

I'd say no. I don't do weddings anymore because I hate them and there are plenty of people out there doing them better than me. The ones I have done have been the hardest work I have ever undertaken in my life, and I spent my youth working in factories and on farms! I got into photography because I was sick of doing stuff I hated for a living, and as I said I hate weddings so doing them would defeat the purpose. I find the whole ordeal extremely stressful and the pressure is great. I have also had a hell of a time getting paid for the weddings I have done. I really do think that successful wedding photographers are a particular breed.

Having said all that, if I were you I'd have a go. You might find you love it and you're very good at it.

I have done some more reading and research, and I have decided not to step into the world of wedding photography. At least not for a long time, unless a friend is in a pinch and I can help out. I'll stick to objects I can pose that won't move on me lol.

Team up with a good wedding photographer in your area and work as an assistant. This will teach you the ropes and give you a good idea if this is for you. I pay $500.00 to an assistant with his or her own equipment, and $300 to an assistant that has to use my equipment.

A wedding is an important event, and can be a good way to get sued if you handle one incorrectly. Start as an assistant. Learn to do them right. Build your portfolio and your reputation.

Some people hate shooting weddings. I actually enjoy them. Or, I used to anyway. As I get older, I am starting to question the ROI for my time spent. If you can book solid and steady portraits sessions of families and children, it can be more profitable for less work. Family Reunions are also a good way to cut your teeth into portrait work, and also pick up some weddings.

Best of luck to you what ever you decide. If you do decide to do weddings, My wedding mantra is, "Capture the Fairytale; Not the Reality"

In life there have always been those who make fire; but most just sit around the fire and enjoy the warmth. A great mind absent of action is waste.

I would not give up on wedding work if you want to have a broad portfolio of work. yes it is work but it can be very satisfying to deliver the final product that you are proud of. I have done wedding work and it can be stressful, intimidating and a lot of other things but it can also be a lot of good things as well.

I wont 100% give up on it, just 98% lol. I'll give it a try, like I said, if a friend or family member needs someone in a pinch, or just another point of view. But then, I'm running out of friends and family that are getting married lol.
