Product shoot help! Please

5 years 10 months ago #583799 by Nicole-Glynn
I have recently obtained a job trying my hand at product shoot of yarn for a local store. They love everything about my pictures but I can't seem to get the color of the yarn right with a white background. It seems to make the colors brighter but they need it to be on white. I would take any advice or help anyone can give me. Thanks!

We use the X rite color checker for products, place the card next to your product and the software creates a calibration in light room that nails all colours & WB accurately.
The video relates to skin tone, but procedure is the same for products:

Yes, a color checker, or at the very least a gray card. In general, even at 5100K, the tint will be ever so slightly off.

Yes a color checker will definitely do the job! I have used the X rite color checker for my product photography and it really performs well.so I would suggest you to go with this to make your product shoot a great success.

I would suggest that after this commitment, you learn more about how to do product photography before trying to do work for someone else. It probably won't help your reputation as a photographer if you aren't able to produce what is needed. You should learn so you will know how to do this first, and get in lots of practice, so you could then be able to be successful.
