Some environmental portraits for your consideration. Would love feedback on composition and what mood these images create.

The first is the one that strikes it for me. I love the
soft box effect of the suspended snow, delicious. I
would have relish to see what the dog is seeing or
it to look in your direction.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I also like the first one.  I feel the second one could be a little better without the distraction of the lighthouse(?) and the land in the top right.  Good job I like what you're going for in these.

I guess we can all agree that the first shot is indeed very captivating. Really good story.

Thank you! That first photo was a magical moment. Snowstorms shut down the city - nearly no cars driving on the street. The community that emerges in those moments in the city is just a joy! Not to mention the wealth of photographic opportunities it creates.

I kinda like the mystery of not seeing what the dog is looking at, to me gives an air of being lost or steeling reserve to head out on an adventure of its own! It would have been so cool if the dog turned to look back at the camera though!

I haven't seen the Morro castle for 62 years so it was nice to see it in your image.  As others suggest, I would crop it out at the water line.  It would make the image perfect.
