Hi All,

Late to post on the true anniversary but here's a series created during the protests held by students at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville Aug 11-12th 2018 in protest of the previous year's far-right, neo-nazi presence in the city during the "Unite the Right" rally. Album here. Curious to get a community response/critique of the album and images.

Full of character and dynamics in this street photo.

The light, color, and expression of the middle guy are all good.

I don't care for the crop. It's either too close to emphasize the "texture" of the all the helmets and clothing, or it's too wide and far away from the one person that appears to be your subject.

So, I can't tell what you're saying. Is your subject the human interest element of the one guy, or is it the formidable field of people, dressed to kill? I think getting in closer, or backing out, would have produced a more successful image.

Also, as shown, the placement of 924's head within the frame strikes me as awkward.

My $0.02.

Thanks for the critique!  I  agree, I'm not 100% on this photo - the thought process while taking it was to look at the repeated patterns of helmets of the riot police with a visible face as the focal point.  Doesn't fully work here, but that was the idea.  Thanks for taking the time to look!

I think your idea of the shot is nice but if your plan is to emphasize the patterns, step back a bit.
