Cemeteries can be awe-inspiring places. So much history, so much drama. The Bonaventure Cemetery outside Savannah ("Midnight is the Garden of Good and Evil)" is beautiful, as is Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA, Rock Creek in Washington, DC, and Arlington National in Arlington, VA. Some people tend to overlook these historic and wonderful places.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

These shots are of the memorial to the members of the 101st Airbourne from Ft. Campbell, KY. On their way back from a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai in 1985, the plane stopped to refuel in Gander, Newfoundland. Shortly after takeoff, the plane went down, claiming all aboard. The Canadian Air Force erected this memorial as a sign of their friendship. The location that each body was found is marked with a series of stone in the shape of a cross.

Well, thank you for those shots...as I was a member of the 101st Airborne. I'd heard about this accident, but have never seen the memorial or anything. Thanks once again for those photos.

A few more I was able to catch on a bleak day.
Remember , the good people of Gander also received almost every incoming flight of Sept 11 and shared everything they had with the passengers. If you ever get a chance, visit these wonderful people. Read the book "The Day the World Came to Town". You will be in awe.

Long live the friendship between the people of Canada and the US.

My husband was 3yrs Army, 8yrs National Guard...as a gunner, then one year in Iraq also as a gunner. My father in law was a Caption in the Army.

I love taking photos of cemetaries. The photo below, we found this cemetary driving around after we visit a state park called Bald Eagle state park....(didn't see any Bald Eagles)
