One colours are beautiful. That would be a fun place to photograph early or late in the day depending on the light direction.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

I think that you have got the place and the idea for a really great shot here, Baydream is right about the time of day .... give this a try in the very early morning hours on a tripod, the soft light of the early morning glow will do something really cool to the brick and mortar colors and the greens in the grass will pop with the morning dew as well. That is a trophy shot in the makings...good eye!

It is what it is.

Megan dont forget to click on insert before submitting your photo then it will come up a full photo, yes time of day is the only problem here, the photo is blown out in a lot of places, if this had that early morning or late afternoon glow it would be a winner.

Agree, it's overexposed. :agree:

This would have been a great HDR (High Dynamic Range) subject to shoot. It would also be nice to shoot early in the morning or at dusk. It is a wee bit blown out (highlights), and the pillars lean a bit to the left. Have you tried a photo shop plugin called PT Lens? I use it to correct shots that I've taken without a tripod.

I like that the subject fills the image.

Thanks for the feeback guys:) I get the "over exposed" comment a lot, went from a p&s to a D7000 in March. Turned off auto mode forever in April, its a lot to learn! One thing I've noticed is I usually have to over expose atleast half a stop or else photos are too dark to see. I'm working on it, thanks again!

Are you shooting manual only Megan when you get dark photos, or are you in A or S mode, I prefer Manual you have so much control to see what you need to alter, use your rear screen lots checking all the time to see if you need to alter anything, the histogram is a useful tool, learn it and it will help greatly, there is a tutorial on here about the histogram and how to read it, also check you havent got anything set that you dont know about, reset everything and start afresh.

Are you posting a jpeg of 2mb or less?
What browser are you using?
Those seem to be the top two issues.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Is your LCD not bright enough?! Not being able to see it doesn't mean it's not there. :)

Like Photobod (David) said, learn to read your histogram. It's a good indicator of exposure and more reliable than using your eye.

Try this out:

Not sure if it's good or not, didnt' have 90 seconds to look at it. :p
