If the image were mine, I would probably try to open up (a tad) the left hand side. I say a tad because I suspect you would want to maintain the moodiness of the piece. Have your explored converting this piece to black and white. For some reason I visualize in my mind's eye a 'film noir' feeling in black and white.

I can certainly see why you were drawn to photograph the scene, the wet sidewalks really adding to the mood of the piece.

I really like the colors in this image, John. Nice shot!

Thanks for the suggestions, Sue! I'll try and see what a conversion brings to it. I try not to change the dynamic range of images, to preserve what attracted me, as you observe.

It makes me feel like I'm there.

I was thinking maybe I'd want to see a little less foreground, that car towards the front is a bit boring, then I decided no I don't think that's it. Then I left the room and coming back to the computer from a distance I noticed how dark the left side of the photo is - maybe a little too much so. I'd think about a little adjustment or trying a bit of a crop maybe of that side of the photo; as interesting architecturally as that building is, it's not that noticeable because the sun wasn't hitting that building.

I really like the perspective you get in photos like this.
