This is my favorite shot of yours. You really nailed it.

Thanks for all the kind remarks! Running PhotographyTalk soaks up so much time that I don't get out as much as I would like to. When I see many of the member photos here, I get worked up and wanting to get out behind my camera! I find much of my inspiration from you all! Again thank you.

Let me ask you this, a photographer on Facebook commented about cropping the foreground of the photo. After doing so... I kind of like the new look. What do you think... Crop or No Crop?

Un Crop is above... Crop is here:

I really do like this better & you didn't lose any of the dramatic look of the sky, sun or water. Still a beautiful shot either way.

It makes for stronger perspective at the cost of the presence and feeling of the beach. You were there..which represents your reaction to the scene better? Which one better expresses what impelled you to shoot it? Beautiful, either way.

Crop. The sand truly is negative space, and since there's nothing much going on with it (aside from some washed-out footprints) I don't think it adds much. (Nor does it detract, IMO. It's just there.)

Wow, seriously an awesome shot! I think the original was great and the crop made it even better.

Great shot Alex. The cropped image is more dynamic. The foreground doesn't add to the image. Good job!!

I like the uncropped version better--you get a sense of the height and length of the pier better than when it is centered in the frame.

I was at first, but after cropping the image, I enjoy that version more. I think if I was closer to the sand to capture more of the grains fo sand, that would make the longer foreground of sandy beach better.

But thanks for remarks, all of you!

Much respect,

Alex

Sucks cropped. Loses that tear dropped shaped light area on the ground and looks cut off.
