Too easy...Redux

The original post elicited comments on the unfortunately blah sky. Despite Kelly's veiled advice, I decided to try to supply what the Sky god didn't.  What do you think. Worth doing?

Not bad! When attempting stuff like this I go a little crazy trying to get a clean edge for the mask.

Trees look a bit funky to me, however I feel your pain. Trees and anything like that is such a pain in the backside. What I would try and do is do a small feather and a LOT of refine edge lol.

It looks good but I would always try to get it right in camera if you can.

Topaz Labs Remask can help a lot with this sort of thing. I also watched a Creative Live broadcast where the speaker demonstrated how to refine an edge (solid color background) that worked brilliantly. Unfortunately, one would have to buy the class or catch it in reruns...

First, thanks to everyone for commenting!
My main concern in trying this was to see if I could get the color contrast and light to be credible for the scene, so as to pass muster if the original was not on view. I find that trying to mask skinny, widely separated, long twigs that jut into the negative space is difficult, so I'm happy to have Gary's reference. Is that course by Ben Willmore, BTW?
As far as "getting it right in camera", I must say I got the solid fog bank covering the Arboretum at that moment very well, indeed...  . Perhaps Takennn could share his camera settings for tuning that into a blue sky, with some clouds, please...:)
