Omaha Beach

A brief visit to the site, cemetery, and monument of the Omaha Beach landings on June 6, 1944. The US 1st Infantry led the attack that breached the vaunted Atlantic wall in less than one day. Comments always welcome!

The one with the flag and the one with the statue are my favorite.  Great job getting that entire flag shot.

Nice post John. My dad visited there back in June, '44 and did NOT have pleasant memories.....

Thanks, Ernesto. I  was struck at how immediate the liberation still seems there. I met some who have first hand accounts of the arrival of the GI's, and the traces of the battles are still visible. Well worth the trip!
