Stormy Seas and the photos that await!

7 years 1 month ago #517212 by Alex
Here in Southern California as I'm sure many of you know, is not exactly known for crummy weather.  So when we do get it, it's time to find the rivers, seas and all else that would have been impacted by the rain for those photo opportunities!

Both of these shots were taken with Nikon D810.

Nikon 24-70mm, with Firecrest Soft Edge ND Grad .06 (Part of the Formatt Hitech Ken Kaminesky Kit)  Which by they way kicks butt. Triggered with of course ' Pulse '!

Both images were processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.  After tooling around in post with both images.  I felt the the photos needed something.  So I added light to the street lamps (they were off when I took the photos).

I like the finished results.  What do you think?

How did you make the lights in Photoshop?

#1 hands down the best.   #2 just seems over processed, and the composition strained.

Actually looks more like Seal Beach.....Its been a while.

Why so serious?

An eye for an eye, LSD and antidepressants. Everything in balance. Buddhists call it karma and Christians call it the golden rule, Jews call it— I don't know. Rabbi Hillel said something poignant. Universe always settles the score.
Does it?
No, but it should.

Hey thanks guys.

So I managed to get a few minutes playing around in post with these.  I toned down the clouds a tad.

Do you prefer the larger clouds from above or the lighter ones shown here:

Seal Beach it is.  Did you hear the Ruby's Diner at the end caught on fire this past summer?

I was going to say that I was most fond of the second shot – but after seeing the new edit of the first shot, I think you've got it down!

Far and away a better shot than the first two. Very nice and good call on the street lamps.
