There was a shoreline full of interesting ice formations, but most of the property was fenced and was in an area where I couldn't get good back-lighting.

Wow!  That's a rad photo.   I really enjoy that you are telling the story of the landscape with this wonderful detail shot.   Great eye for the light and fantastic composition.

Thanks!  You can drive on the lake in some areas on most years.  There is a winter carnival in February that includes car and motorcycle racing on the ice, although several warm winters have forced them to be held in off-lake venues.
