Miniature Landscapes

Something I haven't done in a very long time. Maybe since the 80's when I was into D&D, I was asked to create small landscapes for the board games or table settings. I've since got rid of all my figures and supplies so I'm having to start all over from scratch.

Over night I kept seeing a vision of some jagged spiked rocks resting at an angle protruding from the landscape. Again with limited supplies, here's a partially constructed view of my vision.

Thanks dear photo friends.

Although the rending (as you say) didn't turn out as I had envisioned it the photograph of the display turned out very well. I didn't have all the items needed to actually achieve the desired effect.. Take note for those want to take similar shots.. I used 2 light sources. One from an window and the other a small flash light held over the subject.

I've move this aside to look at something else but along the same lines as a set or display. I'm working on something a bit more challenging. I'll be using aluminum foil & a couple of small pyrotechnics smoke singe starters or home made gel and powders to create the desired effect. First I have to create/build the main subject..

Stay tuned if you like fireworks..

Note: I've always wanted to work in the special effects department at a studio, but this is a dying art due to the computerization of these effects.

I wanted to create something different today and I wanted to use paper. Drawing i did in fact of things that represented Japanese landscapes.

My first element is Mount Fuji. a crude drawing then cut out of paper, bent the edge so that my drawing could stand on it's own. Later I'll add other elements to this scene to create a full 3 dimensional landscape with depth and shadows.
