A cheap and nasty sunset

This photo was one of those 'happened to be in the right place at the right time' moments. Took it with a Samsung Galaxy phone. The photo is completely unprocessed as this photo looks exactly the way it looked in real life and I just couldn't bring myself to mess with it. I know some of you can pick this apart and find flaws but having been there when it was taken I know that altering it in any way would take from what I saw that evening.

I think this lends weight to the the argument that the best camera is what you have with you in 'the moment'. I didn't have a camera with me and my (now ex) wife had her's stored in the boot. So out came the phone...

2, Don't worry, it doesnt… they rarely do.

3, Absolutely!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

In this case it really is straight from the phone. Sheer and utter luck. But thanks :)

Nice moment captured.
I want to disagree with something.
The eye do not take snaps. it takes in a scene like a movie. I am sure when you looked at the foreground you would have seen some detail in the blacks. I am sure when you focused on the sky you might have seen more colour. As our eye eye focus moves around the scene, the iris size increase and decrease.
That is why I think you can play with the highlights and shadows.

Phone cameras are now good enough to do very good work.    This is a great example.
