Though I understand what you were doing, Uli, I must admit
that the street got all my attention and would like to see more! :)

Do you mean those little alleys in particular? Or the centre of Syracuse in general?

We were only there one day and the light was very harsh during the day, even in September. In the evening, unfortunately, it got hazy. That's why I don't have many good pictures.

I've never been there yet… the old architecture is most interesting.

If you are interested in ancient and medieval architecture, Sicily is the place to be. For more than 3000 years, all the nations and rulers of Europe have left their mark on what is now an Italian island.

For example, you will find probably the best preserved Greek temples in a small area.

Can I attach three or four pictures to this thread?

Best regards, Uli

Cathedral of Syracuse, on this place was The great Greek Temple of Athena

Winding alleys and stairs in Agrigento

Restaurant in a historic square in Ragusa

Temple of Concordia in the Valley of the Temples, Agrgento

And if you've enjoyed enough culture, go to the active volcano Etna.

All the best, Uli
