Cathedral interior (competition entry)

1 year 3 months ago #747894 by Esseff
I entered my first photography contest. The theme is 'lines, angles and shapes' so I decided to go with this interior shot of a local cathedral.

I looked at entries to previous competitions and I'm up against some serious competition. Still, I think my shot is a good one. It meets the thematic criteria of the contest but also has good symmetry and strong leading lines. The judging is only end of the month so it's a while to go. Crossing fingers and toes for this one...

G'day mate

A technically competent image - everything tight and verticals are vertical! > well done
Composition is good - very central / symmetrical > well done

From my own comp stuff, I add a 10%-20% increase in contrast so that when projected for analysis, it appears to be a bit sharper and also slightly more saturated. Whether this has any relevance to your comp I am unsure :)

WOW, the symmetry and composition are spot on!  Not to mention the natural frame you have created with this position.  Hope you win!

Talk about a perfectly centered shot!  I love going to old churches in European countries when I travel there, there is so much character in them.  Where you live, do you have many churches?

Thanks. Yeah there are a lot of churches around here. Churches, chapels, cathedrals, mausoleums (not the same thing but I lump 'em together photographically) all over the show.
