Rithenberg, Germany

Hello,
This is my first post here. Here is an image that I took in Rothenburg Germany on my last trip. I got up early to get this without people. The sky in the original was washed out so I created three images with different exposure in Paint Shop Pro then merged them. Please tell me what you think of the processing. The first is straight from the camera.

That looks like something I should try... I did something similar trying to get the deck of a cruise ship void of people. I took several images with a tripod then combined them to remove the unwanted strollers.

Thank you for the comments. Sorry for the misspelling of the town in the title, it is Rothenberg

thank you Sue. I am a little confused. The first image is straight from the camera and very flat from what my eye saw. I 'd like to hear why the first image is more appealing to or any others who would like to comment. All opinions are valued.

Maybe, there is a "balance" between the two. The first feels a little dreary, possibly from the early light. The second has some "pop" probably from contrast and saturation "bumps". I'm kind of a moderate. I might have done the same PP on the shot but with a little more restraint. It would be a fun one to "play" with.
I know how some folks like the "empty street" view but I prefer a touch of humanity to give the scene "perspective" and life. Dewitt Jones commented on one of his early Am shots that a fisherman had wandered into the scene. When the man realized it, he offered to move back. Dewitt said please don't, you have made the scene.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Thank you for your comments. You are correct that it was taken with very early morning flat light and needed some pop. The colors of the buildings were more vibrant than the original image showed but maybe I added too much saturation.
Thanks again for the comment,
Bill
