Looking to see if anyone has anything negative to say about Sigma 150mm f/2.8 lens?

Would you recommend this lens? I'm looking for a little more reach than my 105mm, yet something that I can use for some macro work. These seems like a fair priced piece of glass from what reviews I've read online. I was hoping to get some feedback from here too.

Cheers!

I'm looking at the same lens myself, there's a full page write up on it on page 88 in Popular Photography. The lens get's some great reviews, I'm going to look around a little longer this week and might just order. I'll let you know what I think of the lens.

I'm sure you would be more than satisfied with it. I've yet to find a true macro lens that didn't deliver. Good macro shots are a result of good technique more so than of the lens used. I've seen great reults from even the lowly Cosina made 100mm F3.5 macro lenses. They are good optically, but suffer from suspect build quality. Be more concerned with getting the focal length that works best for you. The 150 is a good all pupose length, but may be a bit on the heavy side for all day shooting. YMMV....

I have heard good things about Sigma lenses. So I am sure the 150mm lens is an excellent lens. Find the lens on Amazon and read the reviews from the people who have it.

This is a great lens if you ask me compare it to Nikon or Canon and it's a great value too

I think you'll find a lot of good use from that lens, if you shoot Nikon have you looked at the 135mm? Another good option.

Wasn't me :)

Didn't they stop making that lens at one point?

I think it would be fine. I actually owned one for about 1/2 hour before taking it back and swapping it for a tripod so I could buy the Nikon version in another shop. LOL

I just wanted the Nikon version, the Sigma should be good too.

I have this lens and will say it's one of my favorites, I had concerns about Sigma too, but will say the quality of this lens is just as good as Nikon.

Nikon D300: 24-70 2.8 | 70-200 2.8 VR |Sigma 150 2.8 | 50 1.4 | SB-800
