What to do with a sort of broken lens?

I have a question about a lens of mine that is kind of broken but not completely.. It is a Tokina AT-X 17-35 F4 PRO FX. I went on vacation and put the lens in my bag with clothes, but I forgot that I put it there and I threw the bag into the car (with the lens in it). After that it has trouble with the autofocus. Sometimes it doesn't work and it just makes a buzzing sound and when I get the lens off the camera and put it back it sometimes works again or I have to do it a several times. But some days I can shoot for three hours without having problems.

Before this accident it already had some issues, I think he couldn't completely focus sometimes, because sometimes it was less sharp than I thought he could do, but I don't really know if this is a real problem or if I do or see something wrong. I also lost some screws, but I found some alternatives, so there are screws everywhere you need them, but not all of them are original. 

The thing I'd like your opinion on is what I should do with this lens. I already bought a new one for myself, because I couldn't rely on this one and didn't had the time or energy to fix it myself. I think it is in a too good shape to just throw away, but I don't think I can still sell it for a 'normal' price. So do you guys think I can still sell this to someone who can fix it and how much do you think I should ask for it? Or should I just give it someone who I think could use it? (And because it's too far gone to ask money for it?)

It's not "sorta broken", it's broken. No, you can't sell it as a functioning lens. Cosmetic shape doesn't matter if it doesn't work properly.

Look on eBay to figure out what the price might be for a broken copy of that lens. Or at least a working copy, and go from there. That will get you in the ball park for "parts only" or "tinkering".

My guess is that it won't be worth your time to mess with it. But there might be someone out there that would use it for play or parts.

You could sell it as a 'parts' lens. Probably not for much but someone may want it if they do repairs.

This could be a good time to acquire a new skill - manual focus.
