Alien Bee gear used my pro photographers?

Is this more of an amateur lighting gear or something that pro's use?  I always see their bright colored lights and think they are more tools of the hobbyist.

Both.  They are popular with hobbyists.  But the little portrait studios in mall storefronts are for profit, no?  And the AB lights are also popular with those.

:agree:  don't let the loud colors fool you, they make a good light.

A lot of the pros around here still use ab's and seriously reccomend them to any new studio photographer. I'm currently considering them for a little while in the future. Great light for the price point, I havent seen anything like them from the competitors at that price.
