Better Beamer vs Magbeam

3 months 1 week ago #684300 by Jessa Layton
I'm trying to photography birds and need a reliable flash extender.  The two that show up in my searches the most are Better Beamer and Magbeam.  Better Beamer, I might be wrong, but looks like the older product and is only $38.  Magbeam is MUCH more pricier at $109.

That's a sizeable price difference.  Is the Magbeam THAT much better or is this marketing fluff?

Which would you buy or do you own?

The idea of a flash expander is great but, when I held the
BetterBeamer the first time, I remembered to never work
again with Mickey Mouse stuff. I works but it is a source
of frustration in term of integrity and replacement.

I got my smile back when Magbeam hit the market.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

If cost is your main concern then you can use the better beamer as it does have the same efficiency. It's sort of difficult to blame that for 35 bucks since it carries out the responsibility you do get two stops more proficiency in light for 35 dollars so it works, however, it doesn't do it in such a pleasant design truly as the magbeam. If you want to spend extra money  then quite frankly you should probably just get the Mag beam.
