canon 250 flashd

Hello,

due to canon sl3 (250d) has no center pin, it's not compatible with my old manual flash. I can buy old original canon Speedlite 430ex for appr. 40$ or buy some on Aliexpress, but I don't know if there is any compatible for a similar price.

Do you have any experience with the third party flashes on this camera? (for example Meike MK950 E-TTL)

And will old models of Canon Speedlite work properly?

Thanks in advance.

All Canon 'Ex' models are capable to work with your SL3. As depicted in the Flash Photography part of your manual beginning on page 168, there might be a few restrictions for older EX models, for example, when the EX flash is "not well-matched with flash function settings." (page 174). Oh, the manual doesn't organize the particular EX models that may not completely work. Those "flash function settings" are depicted starting page 175 for things like controlling different flashguns, or changing the sync between the first versus second screen. You may locate these potential restrictions don't matter for a serious; flash like the 430EX, even for the 'mark I' model. Or then again, you may not ever miss them for your particular flash needs where $40 is an extraordinary cost.

Canon removed the feasibility of using third-party flashes with the Rebel SL3. The regular hot show shoe pin is missing on it. So without the center pin, this camera cannot use non-dedicated flash units.
