Macro Photography Ideas to shoot at Home

Wish I would have found something this basic when I had started. Lighting solutions in macro are tough because few companies support it and the photographer has to build everything themselves. 

Ive been dying to get my hands on a twin flash set up, but Sony doesn’t make one any longer and Mieke is out of the question due to failure in customer service and warranty work. 

My next task is using a bracket to create directional light similar to twin flash

I bought a Meike macro twin light for my Sony A7RIII and my 90 mm macro lens about 8 months ago. I have been extremely happy with it. I shoot mostly macro nature shots and I shoot every day even  though I do it for pleasure.

The Meike is not the same quality as some of the Nikon twin flashes I’ve seen but it does the job very well. I have not had a single problem with it. I wished it did not run through batteries so fast but I got a bunch of rechargeable ones so I just change out a lot. 

It took some fiddling around some because the manual was not very good but I figured it out.

Meike is just at a price point where consistent performance is difficult. Most are good, but some are not. I had one that was not and it took months to figure out warranty stuff, months to ship to China (first time our PO screwed up and didn’t do custom forms), shipping costs added up to over $100 alone because of it. 

At the time I bought mine, Amazon wasn’t carrying them, so perhaps using Amazon warehouse in the US would have been a much safer bet for returns etc. 

 My point was that I would be willing to pay more to get some quality solutions

wow, I understand why you were unhappy. I bought mine from Amazon but I did not need to return it. 

I understand and why you might want a higher quality built product. I shoot for pleasure so I was glad they sold something on the cheaper side. It was still too expensive for me. I spent all my money on the glass and the body. I am sure they will build something for you soon.. The Sony is such a great camera and the lens are exceptional the that they will have to.
