Macro Insects shots - Trip to Costa-Rica or Panama

4 years 7 months ago #658059 by Pierre Robert
Hello everyone, I plan to go to Panama or Costa Rica in the spring of 2020. I am looking for recommendations to find a national park where I could do Macro Photography of Insects. I will be there for about 10 days.

Have you ever experienced such a photo trip? Maybe mini-packages for photography or a guide ? , or just someone who would specialize in this area?

What would your suggestions be?

Thank you

Yeah! Nice details here. Perhaps a little bit closer to the subject maybe.

Nice focus in this closeup shot. I think you can still crop this.

For Costa Rica and even Panamá there should be lots of options doing some google searching. I am in Colombia and I like to photograph insects too but they are catch as catch can. They'd rather not be spotted by a bird or lizard so are often out of sight.

One option:   costa-rica-guide.com/photos/creepy-crawlies-photos/

It is amazing that most of the responses on this thread are about the image, and clearly indicate that your post wasn't actually read.

Apparently reading is passé?

OP: Using an image to get attention doesn't seem to work. As for locations, I've heard (here and there) that Costa Rica has amazing forests. Not heard much about Panama. And given the number of ex-pats that move to Costa Rica for retirement, one might conclude it is a safe place.

Past that, can't help. Google for eco-tours and you'll likely find lots.

Ditto Hook's sentiment. Lots of wildlife/birding photo tours of those places, not certain about bugs. You'll probably need to drill down some into of the tours, but if there will be birds, there will be insects, no?

Why so serious?
