The chicken fat is an apt description. Actually for any type of fat. I work in open heart surgery and the fat that we see on and around the heart has a texture and color very similar to what you captured in those flower petals.
Yes, I live in Aiken. Interesting that it would look like actual fat. Leave up to farmers for coming up with a practical description of things.
