Non -stacked house fly.

I'm still struggling with technique, lighting and focusing abilities.  But I have just installed ext tubes on my macro lens(90mm..+26mm ext) .  Images seem a little larger and I also added a ring light system which I think will help a lot.  A focus rail , probably in my future,  if I want to start using focus stacker software.  Thought this was cool to show the "haltere" structure on this fly.  ( you learn a lot about your subjects in macro photography..LOL). Its a structure used much like a human uses inner ear for balance)

Make: SONY
Model: ILCE-7RM2
Lens: FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS
ISO: 320
Aperture: f/6.3
Shutter speed: 1/20 sec

Yeah! This is nice. Would have been nice if the details are more refined.

Thanks. I've tried using smaller aperture settings and I do get a better DOF, but the overall image seems to get to soft. Thats why I'm thinking a subject this small ( 3mm) has such a narrow depth of field , non the less there is a DOF, that focus stacking is the only way to pick up sharper detail. This was at 6.3 and I think lighting was ok. I have some shots at 2.8 but of course only a small plane is in focus.

This is nice! It is unclear though is it's a fly or not. Nicely done!

Thank you, and yes , even though it is quite small , I believe it is a common house fly. Here this early in Fl we have a lot outside on the plants.

Thank you Sara, but none of these were stacked. I’m almost ready to pull the trigger on
“helicon focus”and try my hand at real photo stacking. I just hope my Mac is up to the task!

I guess "stacked" has a different meaning these days.
