Space Moss

Our rock wall has more kinds of moss or moss-like
vegetation on it than I can count! This picture reminds me of trees in a sci-fi movie on an alien planet, lol.

This is why macro is so awesome. You can find a fairly common subject and make it look otherworldly.

The fiber coming in from the RHS could be cloned out, though it's always best to fix those kinds of issues before pressing the shutter. One thing that might help you is to carry a magnifying glass with you. Inspect your subject with it to see if any cleanup needs to be done before composing. I also take a very soft makeup brush with me to remove unwanted artifacts from a scene (be very careful, I've actually ruined subjects by simply touching them). It has been my experience that it is actually easier and less work to fix potential issues in the field vs. in post.

This is really interesting! I like the focus of the shot.

Thank you for taking the time to give me constructive criticism and some ways that can help, as a very new photographer, I appreciate it very much.
I saw that little spiderweb afterwards, much to my dismay. I do have a paintbrush for gently tidying something, but I never thought to use a magnifying glass to check the scene.
I have been relying on my eyes and the viewfinder on my macro lens, but it isn't as easy to spot those types of issues when you are busy trying to focus!
Great idea, I am definitely going to add one to my gear, thanks!

Nice focus here! You did really well because you worked so hard with the shot.

Funny you should mention that , Jennie .  When  I  look  at those growths  they  remind  me of a particular sci-fi book ,  decades ago,  called "Day of the Triffids" by John Wyndham , and later made into a movie .
The Triffids  were long-necked aliens who invaded  earth  and  were dangerous to humans  because (if I remember correct)  they  squirted  a toxic substance into humans' eyes that made  humans blind  and  then took over the earth .
Moral of the story jennie : beware of those triffid mosses !    :silly:

But anyway,  great shot !

I remember reading that book in elementary school! It's been so many decades now that I have forgotten the story but not the title.
It's funny how the same picture can remind two people of completely different things. I have a friend who says the photo reminds her of "Shrek ears"! I laughed out loud at that, but she's not wrong!
Thanks for stopping by to comment. :)
