The Night Demon...

3 years 2 weeks ago #713599 by Paul Iddon
I was actually looking for spiders late last night, but there were none to seen (was hoping for an early orb weaver of some sort) so no luck there, but I did find a wasp on the apple tree. Not sure what wasps usually do at night - or where they normally go (to sleep?) but she was quite a way inside the branches of the tree which meant some cropping required (and some aggressive NR to keep the background under control). Came out pretty well in the end but she is one of our more feared insects, and not one I like to meet by day, let alone as a night demon...

Aside from the Wow factor, this was my first thought.  I was thinking, that is pretty close to be, to a fierce and unfriendly beast. The different views shows he is somewhat active, pretty scary, haha.

As for the the Wow factor, this just a fabulous set of macros.... again. Just beautiful.
The detail and color.... Wow.

Thank you Sara, thank you Pete.

The yellow-jacket as some name them, certainly gave me some nice moments, but I didn't let my hands get to near!

I'm not sure (would have to look it up) how nasty queens can be when nest hunting.

I know in autumn when the workers are drinking apple juice they get very drunk on it and become quite aggressive and the chances of getting stung increase massively.

That is because it is no longer apple juice but cider!
