Geranium carolinianum, aka Wild Geranium

I have lots of this growing alongside the road where I walk my dog...This has been further Id'd as a Geranium carolinianum, not a Geranium maculatum...

Right, because of the contrast with the surrounding green but
the stigmas look like yellow blobs… without much definition.

I'd be curious to see the RAW file, Scott!

Yes, that's why I said the petals.... looks like the focal point is half way into the flower. That surrounding green definitely sets off the petal color.  The dark background also helps.

I focused on where I did for a reason. Unless I were to stack images, the depth of focus was too limited for all to be in focus...

I understand clearly Scott but, in this case, the lack of detail
does not depend on sharpness as much as on highlight con-
tol prior to SR and tonal rendition in PP. As it is, I think your
picture is too far to the right on the histogram.
