Please help me with colour (colourblind photographer)

Hi everyone,

Sorry to bother you, but being colourblind I wasn't sure if this photo had the colours right. It could be a bit too green I think. Could you guys tell me if it looks right to you or not?

Many thanks,
Wayne

I'm colour blind, but it doesn't keep me from exploring the wonderfully colourful world around us. :)

Is your monitor calibrated?

Yes the greens do look a bit strong to me. I'd reduce the greens and boost the yellows and reds. That'll bring out the strong colours in the flower. I love the orange but I think it does look a little unrealistic.

Greens are a little strong. Go into photoshop and find the green slider on the saturation adjustment and just bring it down.

Wow, so green. :p

Yes your instincts were right, the green is way too strong.

To me it looks more like the blues are way too strong. I think a warmer tone is needed for a shot like this. Then again I like the golden hour the best. :)

Check the histogram... I think the colors look perfect the way they are. If it pleases you then it is perfect.

Should someone tell McBeth to stop beating on his monitor?

Yeah you might want to tighten up your magenta's a tad to get that rich green your are after.

That it is. However, when you convert you can do things that are similar to adding colored filters to the lens when shooting black and white film. For example, if you put a red filter on the lens, a blue sky gets darker. It makes the clouds pop.

With digital and converting to black and white, you can adjust the color sliders BEFORE you convert to make certain colors lighter or darker. It affects how the finished conversion looks.

HTH :)
