What is your opinion of this shot?

I took this a few months ago and I still can not decide if it is a keeper or garbage. I do not like the wings being chopped of or the beak being in the feeder. So all opinions are welcome.

It is what it is... I say keeper. The clean focus and outstanding eye more that compensate for the beak and wing issues... IMHO. :woohoo:

It's not garbage by a long way but I think you're right, your framing is a bit out. Centering it up a bit might help, even if it means a bit of a crop. You might try pumping the saturation and contrast a bit in post, he looks a touch flat.

Nice shot, though.

It`s a keeper,if you see the amount of well exposed bird shots I threw away because of missing wing tips ONLY to see 'experts' posting images with 'creative cropping' that looks great you will kick me!!!
Keep your image it will be handy one day,it`s beautifully done.

Thanks everyone. I was very unsure about this one, full sized there is soooo much detail but the wing issue had me on the fence.

Without the blur in the wings, it wouldn't be as good. They make it FLY!

Do you mind if I ask your shutter speed?

I am also curious to compare others shutter speeds on hummers. When I wanted to "freeze " the wings.I have had to go near 1/2500 (even 1/3200 doesn't always stop them completely but I have "stopped" them at 1/2000 near the feeder.) . Motion in the wings is NOT a bad thing since the hummingbird wings often beat at 50 times per second and up to 200 per second. You caught a very nice "balance" in the wings.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

This is definately a keeper, what a beautiful shot! Love the movement of the wings and the details are pin sharp. Sweet shot! :)
