All 30 sec exposures between f9 - f16. Usually expose for the forground then bump it down a half stop or so then just hope the lightning hits were im aiming. Sometimes you get the consistent clouds that produces at certain intervals....other times your shooting one way then turning and shooting another lol.

I know the feeling about pointing and hoping you are aimed in the right direction. That is how I have captured my lighting shots... I do hate when the storm moves just out of camera range from where I am shooting... many times, on my terrace...
