Nicely composed ... tough backlit background, but I understand about taking what you can get with birds. When shooting birds, especially in the pose your red-bellied is in, pay a lot attention to the tail ... cutting off a portion of the bird can make the difference between a great image and one that is just "okay" .... Voice of experience here!

Nice shot! The only woodpeckers I see around her are Northern Flickers. Haven't seen one of these or a Red bellied since I left Texas.

I want a good wide angle lens and more money for photo trips.

Thanks very much, everyone. While they aren't perfect, I do take pride in what my Oly + 50-200mm combo does. It makes me look like I know what I'm doing! :woohoo:
