Sparrow Missile

An eye for an eye, LSD and antidepressants. Everything in balance. Buddhists call it karma and Christians call it the golden rule, Jews call it— I don't know. Rabbi Hillel said something poignant. Universe always settles the score.

No, but it should.

That's pretty darn good. The detail is such a tighter crop would work!...How about some details.

Why so serious?

This has got one of those titles that says CLICK ME!!! Very cool shot, I agree with effron a bit of a crop could help bring the eye to the subject a bit better.

Hi Cyber, the shoot was already cropped. I choose not to Crop more due the detail of the photograph, this was shoot with a ISO 800 and very fast Shutter 1/3200 to freeze the shoot, although i fail that because the wing has some blur. Back to the crop, well if i cropped more the noise would appear, this is one of the reasons the other one is the shadow of the sparrow i wanted to be marked ;) but hey later on the night i try to cut a little more to see how it goes ;)

Thanks for the info ID, I have the same problem, it seems like I always get some sort of blur off of a wing and I end up tossing out the shot but hey that's half the fun. I'm gonna have to get out there this evening and see if I can snap one in action.

What a great shot! I've been trying to photograph birds in flight but I'm always too late or my shutter is too slow. I hope to get the hang of it soon so I can take pics like this!

I actually think the slight wing blur makes the shot! I shoot hummers (try at least) and the ones I made at higher shutter speeds that freeze the wings aren't as good as wing blur and sharp head/eye.....Well done again....

I honestly have no idea how you got this shot... That's some talent right there man. Good work.

Any advice on how to snag something going that fast?

Well, If you have the right Settings on The Camera for the Current light conditions i think its a matter of opportunity of the moment, sometimes the better shot happens when you are not ready ;)

Thank you Jake, well My Advice is to you make mistakes with camera and Try again until you make the perfect shot, That's the fun of it. But in this case you can Freeze almost everything in day light perfect conditions, if you wanna make works like this try to use settings on manual, ok.. with this birds the shutter speed must be from 1/3000 to 1/4000, if you are using this speeds the light entering on sensor is low so up with iso to 400 or 800 depending on the Speed. About the Focal distance i prefer use f/4 because i want to make the background very unfocus and because its the capacity of my lens 55-250 STM :)
Try it out and Test it ;)
