Nature is Reclaiming…

4 years 9 months ago #650393 by Nikon Shooter

Nature is reclaiming its rights on and in this abandoned home.

A road accident took the lives of an old couple some thirty years ago
and, since, young trees and bushes have grown over the property and
inside the house. Not apparent from this angle are multiple traces of
vandalism and the natural decay of buildings left to themselves.

On my way back to the studio, I noticed and was moved by this desola-
ted scene. An old reflex of mine got me to leave the road to ask around
about it and what happened. — "… a not so rare story of generations not
being replaced because their lifestyle was too hard perhaps, too isolated."
Said a neighbouring old couple that seems to know what's ahead and do
appear to have accepted a similar faith.

If you ever get the chance, visit the town of Pripyat (Ukraine), the nearest town to Chernobyl. Thirty three years after the reactor meltdown the entire town has been reclaimed by nature..
