Just walking in the rain.

4 years 2 months ago #673472 by Tom-Dinning
I left home this morning for my usual walk knowing we would have rain today. The monsoon was looking healthy on BOM radar. A drizzle greeted me at the front door.
I should know better. Monsoon rain is something else.
Within 20 minutes I sought shelter to ‘sit it out’. One does not sit out monsoonal rain. One hibernates.
The next 20 minutes altered by pathway home.

its still raining and will rain for a week or 2. By days end we will have had 500mm of rain and by monsoon end it will be at least 1.5m., enough to fill the aquifers and grow fungus on my shoes.

WOW lots of rain, but don't you need it with the fires right now?

contrary to popular belief the entire country isn’t on fire.
yes we need the rain here as well as the rest of the country but for similar and different reasons.
where the fires are need it for agriculture as well as cooling down and easing the fire.
In the NT we should be having about 2.5 m of rain over Dec to April but last year was slow and this year it came late.
But that’s the way of the weather.
next week we’ll be in flood.
