Really?… in ages?

I did, Phil. I posted it on the publisher's market — as all my
image hunting pictures — and it started to sell quite good.

From you, this comment means something. Cheers buddy!

Nightly migration? So I imagine you went to that location with this shot in mind?  Am I correct?

Yes, I traveled about 6m outside my front door with my wildlife
combo and a camping chair. I was very cloudy but I was waiting
for an opening, the Moon shining though the clouds already.

About two hours in the session, the Moon was visible, I was rea-
dy, impatient, and hoping for the best. As usual, I did some test
shots and worked my way through.

My sweet daughter took care of the coffee so my mind was free.
She asked "What was that noise?"… I hesitate and went for a mi-
grating flock of birds. I was sure of that but they were too far to
hear what birds and from where it was coming from. I had an eye
on the Moon and she was scanning for birds. "THERE IT IS I think"
she said!

I could not believe this! She bent down, looking over my shoulder
as to look to what I was seeing, "Egrets?" she guessed and I said
"Cranes!" Her hands were on my shoulders and her head tight to
mine… we were both breathless for a while I think.

How could you even suggest that this kind of shot is planned? The
Moon was planned but we didn't know about the Cranes! Autumn
and Spring are migratory seasons so it was the right time but how
to make sure of the route? Impossible to plan… not with my luck.

That's great that you had the idea and had to wait and hope for the shot.  The photo is well worth your time.
