They just seem to come from nowhere

G'day all

Sitting quietly alongside the motorhome, in late afternoon they just arrive one by one into the scene as they get up from the long grass and from the shade of the bushes and come out to graze

Love these wide angle outdoor shots. Nicely done.

Are they roaming free or that some kind of reserve?

G'day mate

These "guys and gals" are wild and like other roos and wallabies just roam across the countryside.  They are a very timid animal and as soon as they see you - they're off like the start of a horse-race.  The best way to get a decent shot of them is to use your car as a hide and let it sit close to them (same as birds)

Awesome. Knowing the fact that they are wild made it more interesting.

G'day all
Some background info that might be of interest -or- raise a chuckle ...

Back some 30+yrs ago a group of "young people" from the US and UK came to Australia to review the supposed poor state of the kangaroos. They said that they caught a Greyhound bus from Sydney to Perth .... about the same as New York to L.A.

Travelling the main highways -and- in daylight they did not see many roos or other wild animals, so they declared the kangaroo to be "endangered" and went hell-bent into a program to avoid any commercial use for the animals. They are still active today and their claims (to US and UK people) that the animals are 'endangered' still raises money for their cause

The most recent Aust Gov't Dept-of-Agriculture estimates for kangaroos is "approximately 44-million animals" - numbers which can rise or fall depending on weather (meaning drought)

44 million is a danger zone. If they all synched up and jumped at the same time, it would throw the earth's rotation into a wobble.
