On the last shot was putting the light area in the background directly behind the dragonfly a conscious decision -- or luck?

It's something I teach my students to look for, is all. Areas of high contrast.

When not planned, we call it the "happy accident".

:)

BTW the difference between an artist and an engineer is an engineer expects when x and y goes in, z comes out -- every time. If you pull the lever on an airplane to lower the wheels, the wheels should come down.

An artist hopes an accident will happen. This is a prime example.
