How well do you know your XSi? If you haven't mastered that one, you may not be ready to start a business. Some part of the decision is what type of business you are considering.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

That doesn`t say much about what type of photographic business you want to start or your skill set. It`s very vague,I think a new thread would be more appropriate.

Out of curiosity, if you have to ask which camera, are you next going to ask which lighting..........or which backdrops........or which location? Only when you have experience, knowledge, camera techniques, and good people sense, as well as a business knowledge, are you ready to start a business.

I don't intend to sound harsh, but this is the harsh reality of being in business.

I agree. If you don't even know what kind of camera you need you are going to get eaten alive in this industry.

You need to learn the craft for a few years, and you need to have a key understanding of marketing and running a business.

:agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: I can't agree enough. I have been shooting for almost 20 yrs and just now feel comfortable enough to sell what I shoot. I have just begun to take clients, more for portfolio building than anything. If you are asking the most basic of photography questions, well I will keep my comment nice and say nothing.

Well in theory you can start a business with the camera you have, you just need to understand how to use it, lighting etc..
