New to Photography - looking for Camera

8 years 6 months ago #458958 by avii
Hi all
I need some suggestion -
I would like to get started in photography, I take a lot of photos and have come to realise that the iphone is only good to a certain point.
I am looking to do this leisurely, self interest, when on holiday, out side, friends, family.
I do not want to spend load on a camera that with functions I will not use.

Can anyone suggest a beginner entry- level camera?
I understand the Lens is what's important  - so a make that has a good variety of lens.
I am assuming I will be looking a DLSR Camera ( something like that )

I am looking at the Nikon D5300, D3300 or D3200 - I do not know too much about them - but the D3200 is looking good so far.

I am assuming that I can video in HD with these cameras - as I would like to record as well, maybe so some short YouTube movies - with out having to buy a separate camcorder.

am I on the right track?

cheers

hi avii, you're on the right track. I would go with the D5300 especially if you're going to do video as it will shoot native 1080p @ 60 fps vs 30 fps of others. Also being a bit newer has a handful of other things that help you can easily compare them here:  http://snapsort.com/compare/Nikon-D3200-vs-Nikon-D5300/specs
