Photography with disabilities

Fairly new to digital photography.  Starting to use photography as a kind of therapy, as I suffered a stroke following cancer surgery.
I love the personal feel and expression, but the challenge with stroke damaged brain is very trying.  I bought a Canon T3i, and have spent the last couple months trying to learn the camera from the manual.  This has been difficult, since my brain functions have changed, but rewarding, since I have had to work hard at it.  I also see things a little differently than some, since my speech was highly impacted, and i use pictures as another way to talk.

Welcome. I'm glad to see you here and trying to make the most of it. I think you will enjoy it here.

Life is tough, but with handicaps it's even more challenging. I'm convinced that if I loose my desire to learn and try new things every day that my life won't continue much longer. I'm 77 now, and with many things wrong with me, but I don't let them keep me from getting up and doing something new every day. I'm kind of afraid to slow down, and I think this is what is keeping me going. New things to learn and try, every new day. Photography is one, woodworking, jewelry making, and keeping this 3 acres looking nice and without nature reclaiming it, keeps me very busy, challenged, and looking forward to getting up and experiencing each new day.

One of the reasons that I enjoy photography is that there is so much new to learn, for even someone like me who has been doing it since Brownie cameras. I have a son with muscular dystrophy and his two favorites are computers and photography. He is almost fully wheel chair bound now. He challenges himself with both to give him a reason to get out of the bedroom, with something new and interesting to learn every day.
