Linking from Flickr

As I'm fairly new here and tried to read the one post with the rules in it (they seem to be gone), I think I am missing something about the general requirements. Can someone help?

I tried to post some pictures linking directly from my Flickr account instead of uploading separately to here.  It seems the post needs to be approved by a moderator first, which I can understand, but I wanted to ask if we are allowed to do that?  Would I be better served to just upload my photos to this site as well as Flickr?
