 I am currently having a love hate relationship with this picture. there is something not right with it , but I can't put my finger on it. there are so many things I could do, but not sure of . IE: crop out the car, the sign, is the angle to much? should I have gotten in closer? any suggestions are welcome. Thank You in advance

Alright. Now we have the photo. What photo software do you have? Suggestions will be different and probably include program you may not have but we'll do our best.

This looks like a wide angle shot, judging from the angle the side objects lean in. The building would be more linear if you had been farther away using a longer lens. There is a program that does this for you and it is even free but for the life of me I can't locate it. Perhaps someone else will know what I am mentioning. The down side of this is you will lose the perspective that the spires are reaching towards heaven which might have been an effect you were wanting to keep.

Can you better describe what you might be seeing "wrong" with this shot?

my goal was to reach for the sky. As for the rest, that is where my problem comes into play, there is just something about the picture that rubs me wrong and I am having a hard time putting my finger on it. I think mostly the fact that there is so much space around the church, was so hoping that someone else may be able to see what I can't . Am I reading to much into this?

I think if you got a little closer and moved to the right a bit, showing the front door and walk leading up to it .... sort of enter here and you'll exit up there ....

Agreed the car and signs are a distraction and the perspective is off.

No matter how fast I go, there's always someone slower in front of me.

On my screen it looks under exposed. Quite a bit.

If Charles can remember the software, that will help. Then I would suggest you take out SOME of the vertical distortion - BUT NOT ALL and increase the contrast a bit.
If you post this to an album, it can be downloaded (SAVE AS) and let folks try their hand at changes. If someone does that, please note the software and the steps used. (The save as does not seem to work from the forum and the size is small.)

:agree:
Greetings Nanna. I see it as under exposed or the White Balance is off towards the cold side of the spectrum. You might try reshooting it as was said closer to head on. I would go directly head on and get closer to the church where to get the whole thing in you have to tilt your head up. It will give you that reaching for the sky perspective you are wanting. On this photo you can try cropping it long style. For any signs you can use the Clone Stamp or the Heal Tool if Elelments has that to eliminate them. Also on this one I would try doing a Levels adjustment and maybe try adding a slightly warming filter effect, the key word here is slight. Maybe +2 at the most. The great thing about digital is you can try something in post and back up if you dont like it.
