new here and sharing a story

I was on a boat that was heading to an island where I was going to photograph some a birds. There were turtles and seals frolicking, so on the way, I was attempting to catch this action using EOS 5D (Mk1), EOS 40D and spare 20D in plastic bag. While getting out of the boat in shallows (calf deep), a big wave caught the back of the boat , I tripped, 40D with 100-400 and 5D with 24-105 got dunked 20D got splashed. The 40D and attached lens died. The 5D screen display started to get distorted but continued to function though a grating sound from lens barrel. The 20D screen died but functioned. Moral of the story is that the 5D has no weather sealing, the 40D has some, but it died immediately and is a write off. The older body must have higher manuf. tolerances and that is why I am a fan of that old body! However I am in the market for a 7D.

just saying hello!! In this economy, that would be tragic to have all that equipment get wet like that.
