Focusing issues with Nikkor 18-200 lens

9 years 4 days ago #207038 by Nikonjan
I recently started having issues with my lens focusing, which makes me miss shots and have to try manual. It is intermittent. I looked this up on the internet and see a lot of people have had this issue. I tried turning off the VR and checked my firmware version ,it's up to date. I'm thinking of getting a different lens. I do like this lens and the range, it's been my fave. But I can't keep having this issue. I've had the lens about 4-5 years, I think. Anyone else have this issue?

Clean the metal band where the lens and body make contact... :beerbang:

I had thought of that when I was shooting and wiped it with my lens cloth. Will try some alcohol or vinegar and see if it helps.

I had that lens and sold it a couple years ago. As it aged I was also having focus issues, seemed like when ever it wasn't level. Definitely suffered from creep, and that could have been part of the problem....:(

Why so serious?

Yes, I know what you mean about the lens. I had shut off the VR and that didn't seem to affect it. It was an off and on type of thing. I wouldn't mind getting a new lens but will see if it continues.
