Thinking about buying Nikon 24mm f/1.4

I'm about 90% there.  Is this a one pony lens?  Meaning do you find you can use this for landscapes AND cityscapes?  I've read all over about how sharp this lens.  For the money, I want to make sure I get as much use from it as I can.

Awful lot of money on something that will rarely be shot wide open. Those shots can be taken with other lenses than don't cost anywhere near as much & most times landscapes & city scapes shots are done stopped down a bit where many lenses are already sharp enough.

I agree with Scott. If though, you are going to do a lot of night, star trails, milky way type photography it could be used a lot. That being said, I use my 16-35 f/4 for 90% of my night stuff and its just fine. (I also own an older 24 f/2.8 that gets little use).

Why so serious?

If you plan on shooting additional landscapes then yes, go for it.  That lens will be great (if not the best) for landscapes.

You could be paying a premium for the extra wide (f1.4) aperture, when for landscapes you'll probably be using a tripod anyway.
For similar money, you may get more use out of a 14-24 f2.8 which is just as sharp.

14-24 won't take filters traditionally and I think the 24 f/1.4 is sharper from corner to corner.

If you plan on doing landscapes and doing wide open shots with this lens, pull the trigger. This will be the next lens I get whenever that'll be.

Sigma has a couple primes in that range that I find myself drooling over as well......
